Look at this from 1st Corinthians 9 verses 24-27
You’ve all been to the stadium and seen the athletes race. Everyone runs; one wins. Run to win. All good athletes train hard. They do it for a gold medal that tarnishes and fades. You’re after one that’s gold eternally.
I don’t know about you, but I’m running hard for the finish line. I’m giving it everything I’ve got. No sloppy living for me! I’m staying alert and in top condition. I’m not going to get caught napping, telling everyone else all about it and then missing out myself. (The Message Translation)
In our lives, goal setting is not an option. God’s word compels us to live in an “extra” ordinary way by striving for excellence.
Goals push us to grow. And in order to grow we must depend on God’s spirit working within us.
Think about how many goals you have set in the past month. (Or did you set any at all?)
How many did you accomplish? How many did you carry over to this month? Do you have any set for this month?, this year?, this decade?
No one is going to set your goals for you. You must. Complacency is near death.
Start with smaller short term goals. Gradually increase. Confidence comes with having met a goal. Set the next one higher.
