Start where you are
Watch your mouth
Proverbs 13:3 – Those who control their tongue will have a long life; a quick retort can ruin everything.
The Holy Spirit through the apostle James said if you control your tongue you can control your life. So it is safe to say that if your life is out of control, you are not in control of your tongue.
Get a grip…on your tongue.
We can be very watchful of what goes in our mouths over our tongue but care less about what comes out passed our tongue.
If you are having trouble here are some tips:
1. Count to 10 before you speak.
2. Listen to what is being said instead of what you are going to say back once the other person is finished speaking.
3. If all else fails tape your mouth shut with duct tape for about 24 hours to get the feeling of what it is like to be quiet.
There is wisdom and long life in watching your mouth.
Dream big!
“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do…Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.” – Mark Twain
God created us to dream and to dream big! In fact I have heard it said that to get a good idea of the size of God, dream about the greatest thing that you can think of and then multiply that by 100 and then you are getting close to the size of God.
Big God, big dreams.
With man all things are not possible but with God all things become possible.
Since God created us in His image it is only right that He would expect us to act like Him, think like Him, talk like Him and dream like Him.
It is His dream that all men come to know His Son, Jesus personally. It is also His dream that we would be used in the fulfillment of His dream.
God gives you the desires of your heart not to frustrate you but to propel you in that direction. Once you get moving toward your dreams you stand a good chance of seeing them come true.
Dream BIG because you serve a BIG God!
Skip the coffee?
There is currently a bottle of shower gel in our shower at home that reads “Skip the coffee and ride the wave.” It is advertising the “Eye Opener” Coast soap.
You can afford to skip the coffee and the eye opening wave, but you can’t afford to skip the life changing, wisdom infusing Word of God each day.
If you read a chapter of Proverbs each day (31 Chapters, one for each day of the month!) you will really get your eyes open and be riding on a wave!
Wake up, give attention to the words of God each day and find that your world will change around you. When we come face to face with the truth of God’s word we must make a decision either to embrace it and decide to act on it so that it can change us or reject it and remain the same.
Everyone wants a change, but to experience a change, you must change.
It takes more than a great body wash and starbucks coffee…you need a fresh word from the maker of heaven and earth!
So skip the coffee, miss the wave but whatever you do, don’t miss the Word!
Forget it
Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, – Philippians 3:13
One of the most liberating facts in life is that tomorrow is gone forever. You can not do anything about it but forget it.
Learn from any mistakes you may have made and go on!
Hopefully we were all taught that there is no use crying over spilt milk. Wipe it up and go on.
Today is new. You have a chance to do something great today!
If you focus on what is behind you, it is certain you will crash into what is before you.
Thank God for His grace for today and move out with a renewed sense of purpose.
God created you to win, to grow and to make a positive impact on all those around you.
Go do it!
