After the Hurricane

Katrina just came through. (The category 4 hurricane that has possibly done an estimated 25 billion dollars worth of damage.)

Now the talk is what kind of damage was done by the storm.

Wind, rain and floods. Powerful elements that can do extreme damage extremely quick!

Because we cannot control the weather it is to our best interest to build our house as “hurricane” or “storm” proof as possible, right?

Jesus spoke about standing after the storm. (see Matthew 7)

He said that the difference in whether your house is standing after the storm is all in the foundation.

Your foundation is the key to standing after the storm.

Jesus also explains that the foundation that we need is built by hearing His word and DOING it.

Doing the words of Jesus will guarantee that we will be standing after the storm!

Storm proof your life, your family and your home (spiritually speaking) by hearing the word and doing it.

Which side of the bed?

Which side of the bed is the wrong one anyway?

There is no wrong side of the bed!

The truth is that we have no excuse for a rotten atittude. We choose our atittude.

The Bible says in the book of James that we should count it all joy whenever we enter into trials, temptations and tests. If we should count it all joy in the hard times how much more should we be joyful all the time?!

Joy is not a result of being happy and having everything going “your way”.

Joy is a decision from the heart to be thankful, hopeful and positive regardless of which side of the bed you get up from.

The bed has nothing to do with your attitude!

If you see your attitude looking for an excuse to be bad, ….ADJUST IT! QUICK!!

Your Day

This is the day the LORD has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it. – Psalm 118:24

Today was made by the Lord for YOU! That’s right…..little ole’ YOU!

God lives in eternity and is not bound by time. He actually transcends all time!

We are the ones that are bound by, or live within time restraints. SO….

We are to make the best or most of our time and the most of each day.

Today has never existed before and will never exist again so do something today that you have never done before!

Go out of your way – leave the “norm” – and reach someone with, not only, a random act of kindness, BUT give someone the Word of God!

Tell someone that God is on their side and that He has a plan for their life! Point them to Jeremiah 29:11 and let God speak to them.

Our job is to encourage and edify and it is the work of the Holy Spirit to teach, lead, guide, give direction and change people’s heart.

This is your day!…what will you do?

Put On

Col 3:9-11 says: Don’t lie to one another. You’re done with that old life. It’s like a filthy set of ill-fitting clothes you’ve stripped off and put in the fire. Now you’re dressed in a new wardrobe. Every item of your new way of life is custom-made by the Creator, with his label on it. All the old fashions are now obsolete. Words like Jewish and non-Jewish, religious and irreligious, insider and outsider, uncivilized and uncouth, slave and free, mean nothing. From now on everyone is defined by Christ, everyone is included in Christ.

We are instructed to put on our designer clothes each day. Not the ones with a “Tommy” tag in the them but the ones with the “God” tag in them.

Dress for success by putting on the “new man”. A new way of doing things and saying things.

Find out what the Bible says and do it. In doing so you will be putting on the new man.

Just as dressing in the morning is important before walking out the door, we as disciples of Christ must be transformed by His words and thoughts in order to do His will during the day.

So burn your ole’ duds and dress up with designer clothes from heaven!

Be fashionable, go with clothes designed by God.

Running

Proverbs 15:9 in the Message translation reads

A life frittered away disgusts GOD; he loves those who run straight for the finish line.

What insight!

When you are running you have little time to “fritter” away your life!

Fritter means to squander little by little or spend unwisely.

When we are busy we are moving and going forward. The key in our going forward is to go straight for the finish line.

God has a finish line for you and He knows what direction you need to go to get there.

Get busy! It’s not over yet, God is directing your path as long as you are taking each step toward Him and His plans.

Run and don’t look back – Look up and look ahead. You are a winner!
