Instructions Included

So who reads the instructions?…2Ti 3:16 (AMP) “Every Scripture is God-breathed (given by His inspiration) and profitable for instruction…”

Since life came with instructions why don’t we read them, follow them and enjoy the “abundant” life that Jesus provides?…Because most would rather not. Reading the instructions take too much time and effort, right?! (NO!)

Some think…I don’t have time to read the instructions, if I run in to trouble I will call someone and they will be more than glad to help me. (I hope…)

God gave us His Word and with His Word we have all the instructions that we need to live a productive and successful life in the here and now and life ever after! Every Word that comes from the mouth of God is our spiritual food and instruction for life. We should hang on His every word desiring more. He has promised us that His Word is a lamp to our feet and a light to our path. We should be able to see clearly as we walk in His will for us. He has not let us helpless and hopelessly in the dark without a clue. (To hear some folks talk you would think that…)

He instructs in the way that we should go and His Word provides instruction! Let’s get instructed and walk in the light!

Got Milk…or Meat?

What is on your menu today? “You have been believers so long now that you ought to be teaching others. Instead, you need someone to teach you again the basic things about God’s word. You are like babies who need milk and cannot eat solid food.” – Hebrews 5:12 NLT

Milk is great when you are a baby, but we should be growing and eating solid food at a certain point. Growing up is God’s plan for you. You should not be in the same place spiritually today as you were last year or even last month. We should be experiencing constant growth. It is up to us to get into the Word and let it get into us.

Babies could choke to death on a piece of steak. Their bodies are not able to handle a piece of meat…they haven’t developed. Yet we have many in the church that are crying for meat and for the “deeper things of God” but are not doing the foundational things that we are instructed to do. Here is a sign of babyhood: “And I, brethren, could not speak to you as to spiritual people but as to carnal, as to babes in Christ. I fed you with milk and not with solid food; for until now you were not able to receive it, and even now you are still not able; for you are still carnal. For where there are envy, strife, and divisions among you, are you not carnal and behaving like mere men?” – 1 Corinthians 3:1-3 NKJV

Envy, strife and divisions will keep you a baby…carnal…and behaving like people who don’t know Jesus as Lord. Let’s grow all that we can, …today! Move from the milk to the meat.

Mind Control

You can control your thoughts! “casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ,” – 2 Corinthians 10:5 NKJV

This verse is attainable, we can do it! There is one thing that is more powerful than any thought that you will ever think and that is the Word of God! This is why we must be skillful in handling the Word. We must know what it says above all else because we will use the Word of God to capture every thought, judge it and either cast it down or receive it and think on it.

Where we have gone wrong is believing the lie from the enemy that we can not control our thoughts. The devil wants us to believe that it is “only natural” to think certain thoughts. Don’t buy the lie! You were created to think life God thinks and to think on all that is true! Check out this powerful verse…“Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.” – Philippians 4:8 KJV This is our standard, ruler, filter and measure whereby we judge EVERY thought that we find in our mind! If it is not true, don’t think on it, replace it with the Word of God. Arrest that thought, take hold of it and cast it down. Then replace it with the truth of God’s Word by speaking it out of your mouth! Loud and clear!

He Makes It Grow

God alone causes growth. We can not take credit! “I planted, Apollos watered, but God [all the while] was making it grow and [ He] gave the increase. So neither he who plants is anything nor he who waters, but [only] God Who makes it grow and become greater.” – 1 Corinthians 3:6-7 AMP

It is the life of God that causes growth! John 1 says that life is in Him and if life is in God then everything grows because of the life that comes from God. Thank God that we have His life in us through being born again (Romans 10:9-10) The life of God is in us NOW! And His life causes us to grow as we feed on His Word and do it!

When God created the heavens and the earth (see Genesis), He created everything to GROW! When something is not growing then there is something wrong. Growth is God’s plan and divine design.

We do our part and He does His part as these verses say in 1 Corinthians. We can only take credit for obeying God. That is it. Just to hear Him say, “Well done good and faithful servant!” will be enough. He is awesome and all life comes from Him. He causes growth and we give Him all the glory! We are growing and to God be the glory!

Ready to Eat?

Family reunions…great memories. Can you remember getting ready to eat? It seemed that you became more hungry the closer it was “time” to eat! “Like newborn babies you should crave (thirst for, earnestly desire) the pure (unadulterated) spiritual milk, that by it you may be nurtured and grow…” – 1 Peter 2:2 AMP

We need to crave the Word of God as much as we crave good food! We have become experts at natural food. Just look at the restaurants and recipes that abound. (Not to mention all the “healthy” people living off the “fat of the land”…some a little larger than others!) There is no famine or deficient of natural food.

We need to focus on the Word of God, our spiritual food more than our natural food. Jesus said, “Man should not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God!” Some how we have thought that this scripture only applies to Jesus because He said it or something. But He said it because it applies to us. We need more of the Word of God! You can not overdose on the Word. (And it will not cause you to gain weight)

Prepare yourself for your next meal. Feed your appetite for the Word by declaring, “Lord, I love Your Word! Thank You for speaking to us and getting us your Word. Thank You that You feed us everyday and increase that hunger within us to take in more of Your Word!” Ready to eat?
