Growing up requires something. “When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child; now that I have become a man, I am done with childish ways and have put them aside.” – 1 Corinthians 13:11 AMP
To be mature we must come to a place where we admit that we control the way that we talk and act. We take responsibility for our words, thoughts and deeds. We should not be acting the same way today that we did a year ago, if we are truly growing up. It is up to us to put away childish things and ways of acting.
Babies get upset if they are uncomfortable. Just the least little thing is liable to set them off on a crying spell. They “pitch a fit” when they don’t get their way. They really believe that the world revolves around them and that everyone should stop and serve them when they need it and in the very way that they want it.
There are those in the Body of Christ that act the same way although they have been born again for years. The fruit of spiritual immaturity is childish ways. We have to put them away. It is up to us. No one can do it for us. This will permit us to “grow up into Him”! Let’s grow.
