The Mark

When are you fully grown? “But speaking the truth in love, may grow up INTO HIM in all things, which is the head, even Christ:” – Ephesians 4:15

Since our mark or measure is Jesus we will never get to a place in our growth where we can declare that “we have now arrived”. We should be constantly reaching for “the mark”. Think about the doorway in your grandparents house where you and all your cousins used to measure yourself and make a mark where you measured up and then write your name beside it and the date. This “method” was used to track growth and you got excited when you stepped up to the threshold to make your new (and higher) mark! I have grown! You wanted to be measured to show everyone that you were becoming big.

We should be just as excited to feed on the milk and meat of the Word of God so that we can grow INTO HIM (in all things). Let’s leave our mark of where we were and step up and grow up towards the mark that Jesus has made. Let’s put away childish ways and speak the truth (Joshua 1:8) so that we will become more like Him. Reaching for the mark!
