Staying in the Love of God

It is the power of the love of God working through us that causes us to win in all that we do!

But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit, keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life. – Jude 1:20-21 NKJV

We can walk in love at all times, with all people and in every situation! Each one of us have the ability to love people that act unlovely and in our opinion may be undeserving of any love.

The way that we “tap in” to the love of God is first to become “born again”! When we become born again and make Jesus the Lord of our lives the love of God resides in our heart. His love can be “shed abroad” (Romans 5:5) increased or expanded in our lives as we yield and submit to the Holy Spirit. God is love according to 1 John 4:7-8 and when we pray in the Holy Spirit we “stir up” or cause His love to grow in our heart. When we pray in the spirit we are exercising and gaining ground spiritually in our ability to love like Jesus loves. We begin to have more compassion on people and see them the way that God sees them. This motivates us to love them the way that God loves them and we become a bigger vessel of His love extended to those around us. We stay in the love of God by continuing to pray in the Holy Spirit consistently. Let the love flow through you!

Harmonize

Unity is a big deal to God! He desires that our marriages, families, churches, cities, nation be unified. After all he created man to be united to Himself and to Eve. “It is not good that man is alone.”

To be unified requires that we learn how to harmonize. Harmonizing is adjusting and adapting in order to produce a pleasing sound. In music to harmonize means to play a chord or series of notes at the same time that complement each other and produce a pleasing tone.

In each chord there is a root note that determines the name and nature of the chord or “key”. Our root note is God. He is the base of our chord and He is the one that each of us adjust ourselves to. We daily seek the Lord through His Word and adjust ourselves to be in harmony with Him and in doing so we place ourselves in harmony with those who are doing the same thing. It is not about adjusting ourselves to each other but each of us adjusting ourselves to God.

Let’s aim at and pursue harmony. Let’s lay down our agendas and pick up His agenda.

Romans 14:19

So let us then definitely aim for and eagerly pursue what makes for harmony and for mutual upbuilding edification and development) of one another.

Find the root note and make every adjustment necessary to be pleasing to Him. What a beautiful sound!

Love is the Key

Love is such a big key to walking in victory in this Christian life. I do believe that’s why the enemy throws big challenges in this area. He knows if he can get you out of the love walk, it will affect your peace, your strength, your joy, your health, your prayers and handicaps your faith big time. In Romans 5, the Word says that, “we have been justified, declared righteous through faith, and by faith through grace we have God’s favor, joy and hope. God’s hope never disappoints, because His love has been poured out in our hearts, we can love super-naturally. Have you ever wanted to be a super-hero, like “Super-Woman” or “Super-Man”, and do what the average human could not? Well, here is your opportunity, when you tap into God’s love, He pours His super upon your natural ability and you can love those under normal circumstances, you could not.

You do not have to worry about having enough love inside your heart. God’s Word says, His love is shed abroad, or has been poured out in your heart, by the Holy Spirit. We need to activate it by making the decision to allow it to flow.

Here is a prayer to pray everyday:

“Father, in Jesus Name, today I make a new and strong commitment to live a life of love, to let the tenderness of God flow through me and help those I come in contact with. Help me and teach me to love even when things go wrong, to be patient and kind to those are not, and to lay aside all hurt. Teach me to talk in love, walk in love and season my words with grace and mercy.

Lord, Your Word says, that Your love has already been poured out in my heart, so today I resolve to remove every obstacle that would keep me from flowing in love. I place all resentment behind me, and I forgive all those who’ve done me wrong. I take upon your cloak of peace, the robes of righteousness and Your eyes of compassion. Thank You Lord, that You cause me to increase and excel and overflow with Your Love and that I am a living example of Your love to those around me. Amen.”

Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. He who does not love does not know God, for God is love. In this the love of God was manifested toward us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him. In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. No one has seen God at any time. If we love one another, God abides in us, and His love has been perfected in us. By this we know that we abide in Him, and He in us, because He has given us of His Spirit. And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent the Son as Savior of the world. Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God. And we have known and believed the love that God has for us. God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God in him. Love has been perfected among us in this: that we may have boldness in the day of judgment; because as He is, so are we in this world. (1 John 4:7-17 NKJV)

Manners Are A Sign of Love

Remember something called “manners”? It used to be taught in homes and schools.

Love endures long and is patient and kind; love never is envious nor boils over with jealousy, is not boastful or vainglorious, does not display itself haughtily. It is not conceited (arrogant and inflated with pride); it is not rude (unmannerly) and does not act unbecomingly. Love (God’s love in us) does not insist on its own rights or its own way, for it is not self-seeking; it is not touchy or fretful or resentful; it takes no account of the evil done to it [it pays no attention to a suffered wrong]. (1Co 13:4-5 AMP)

Acting rude or unmannerly is a sure sign of no love and selfishness because love has manners and is not rude. To learn manners and practice them shows how much of the love of God you are allowing to flow through you. Can you imagine Jesus being rude? Do you think that He would continue to dominate a conversation and never let the other person speak? Would Jesus bump into you and never say, “excuse me…”? Would He borrow something and never return it or promise to call you and never follow through? Would He continue to talk to you after you have let Him know that you have another appointment to get to and that you need to go?

Rude is acting in any way that is inconsiderate. To have manners and act mannerly means to consider others before you speak or act. Be sensitive to those around you by thinking of them first. Your manners can open a door that you can use to tell someone about Jesus. Powerful stuff! Commit to the Lord to be a person of impeccable manners.

Moved With Compassion

We are called to move toward the unlovely! (not run from them to a place of protection and security)

Now a leper came to Him, imploring Him, kneeling down to Him and saying to Him, “If You are willing, You can make me clean.” Then Jesus, moved with compassion, stretched out His hand and touched him, and said to him, “I am willing; be cleansed.” As soon as He had spoken, immediately the leprosy left him, and he was cleansed. (Mar 1:40-42 NKJV)

Jesus was MOVED with COMPASSION (the love of God in action) toward a leper!

The untouchable man was touched by the Healer! In that instance Jesus displayed for us all that it is God’s will that ALL be healed and whole. He also showed us how we should respond to the untouchable and unlovable…move with the love of God TOWARD them.

If God is going to use us we must go out to where there are hurting people that need a touch. Jesus did not come to earth to be secluded in a cave somewhere only to come out and be crucified when the time was right. The Great Physician came to the wounded ones in order to heal them. We have got to do more moving! Moving toward those who want deliverance and help!

Begin to pray, “Thank you Lord that I am moving with compassion as Jesus did! I see people that are reaching out in faith and move toward them so that you can move through me to meet their need! The love of God moves me to speak to people about their eternal destination. Thank you Lord for using me to bring help, hope and healing to all those around me.”
