All Together Now

Being “in sync” allows us to produce a harmony. When we are pursuing and aiming at peace we are walking in unity and fulfilling the will of our Father.

Rom 15:6 …that you may with one mind and one mouth glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.

The church began in unity. Acts Chapter 2 uses the phrase “in one accord” to signify that the believers that were gathered in the upper room were not just in the same room but that they were united in heart and in mind. It is not enough to just be in the same place at the same time.

You can be under the same roof and be miles and miles apart.

If we are to mature in the Lord we must prefer one another and adjust in our relationships to the point that we experience a unity. The more unity that we experience, the more of God’s power we will see flowing through our homes and churches. Every adjustment we make and every time that we choose to prefer others it is worth the effort that it takes. Walking in love translates to HARMONY and UNITY! God has not called us to be self-serving (alone) but to serve (united with the body of Christ).

Psalms 133:1 NKJV – Behold, how good and how pleasant it is For brethren to dwell together in unity!

Harmonize

Unity is a big deal to God! He desires that our marriages, families, churches, cities, nation be unified. After all he created man to be united to Himself and to Eve. “It is not good that man is alone.”

To be unified requires that we learn how to harmonize. Harmonizing is adjusting and adapting in order to produce a pleasing sound. In music to harmonize means to play a chord or series of notes at the same time that complement each other and produce a pleasing tone.

In each chord there is a root note that determines the name and nature of the chord or “key”. Our root note is God. He is the base of our chord and He is the one that each of us adjust ourselves to. We daily seek the Lord through His Word and adjust ourselves to be in harmony with Him and in doing so we place ourselves in harmony with those who are doing the same thing. It is not about adjusting ourselves to each other but each of us adjusting ourselves to God.

Let’s aim at and pursue harmony. Let’s lay down our agendas and pick up His agenda.

Romans 14:19

So let us then definitely aim for and eagerly pursue what makes for harmony and for mutual upbuilding edification and development) of one another.

Find the root note and make every adjustment necessary to be pleasing to Him. What a beautiful sound!

Approved By God

Study must become a habit.

“Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” – 2 Tim 2:15 (KJV)

Growing up spiritually does not happen naturally, it requires a great deal of time and attention. The responsibility of knowing Him and growing up in Him is ours. We have been given His Word and He took great effort to get it to us. If we completely comprehend how much value there is in the Word of God each of us would become totally devoted to the study of God’s Word. (This responsibility is not just for people who are in the ministry)

“These were more fair-minded than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness, and searched the Scriptures daily to find out whether these things were so. Therefore many of them believed…” – Acts 17:11-12

Giving yourself to the Word of God produces a faith in God that is necessary to accomplish the will of God. Daily is key. Feeding from the Word daily, searching and pouring over the Word brings you face to face with the Author, the Holy Spirit. He is the One that takes us by the hand and leads us into a deeper understanding of the truth. He opens our eyes to show us things that we have never seen before.

We become approved by God by studying the Word enough that we handle the Word with confidence and boldness. Get deeper in the Word and watch it transform your life.

Seeking First?

What do you long for and desire more than anything?

But seek (aim at and strive after) first of all His kingdom and His righteousness (His way of doing and being right), and then all these things taken together will be given you besides. – Matt. 6:33 AMP

There will always be the temptation to worry and fret about “things”…what to wear and what to eat…how are we going to pay all the bills…etc. BUT we are instructed by Jesus to do something that will cause that worry, fear and dread to go away.

Seeking first the Kingdom of God is not just something that sounds good to quote. It is something that we must do on a daily basis if we are to live above the “cares of this world”. By seeking first the Kingdom of God we are lifted up so that we begin to see things from God’s perspective (on a higher level). Putting the Word of God and prayer in it’s rightful place puts everything else in it’s rightful place.

Our number one priority must become our spiritual growth and health! We must give attention to God through prayer and the study of His Word if we desire to walk in His peace (Phil. 4:6) and have good success (Joshua 1:8). There is no substitute and no excuse…we must.

Seek first His Kingdom on a daily basis by studying and meditating on a chapter a day then pray…ask the Lord to show you His will for your life…then get ready for all those things that you need to be given to you!

It’s His Word and it works, prove it!

2009 is History

Yesterday is gone.

Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. – Phil 3:13-14 (KJV)

You cannot do a thing about 2009 except learn from it. Learn the lessons, forget the details. New Year, new chapter in your life.

The most important time in our lives is today. What we are doing with today will determine our tomorrow. Today we thank God for today and do all that we can to live in the very center of His will. The Apostle Paul in writing to the Church in Philippi said that he had not experienced all that God had for Him yet and because of that there is ONE thing that he did…”FORGETTING those things that are behind”.

Forgetting the past is a big key to accomplishing what God has for you to accomplish just ahead. It is a monumental task that requires the power of the Holy Spirit working in your life.

Check out this powerful word from The Word:

“This is what the LORD says— he who made a way through the sea, a path through the mighty waters, “Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the desert and streams in the wasteland.”- Isaiah 43:16, 18-19

Move forward by leaving 2009 in 2009! Great things are just ahead – 2010 here we come!
