Needing Patience

The world is becoming more impatient by the nano-second.

My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience. But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing. – James 1:2-4 (KJV)

Patience is a force that comes from God by His Spirit into our spirit (as we allow it) to hold us steady until we receive what He has promised us.

Our difficulty lies in the fact that we live in a world where everyone wants everything – yesterday (if not sooner!). How fast is fast? Not fast enough. We want faster and faster than that. People praying and believing God for their healing want a miracle, NOW! If it does not happen instantaneously then they think that the Word of God doesn’t work…

Impatience is a sign of spiritual immaturity. It is time for us to grow up and operate in patience. Patience is a part of the fruit of the Spirit that is listed in Galatians 5:22. It comes from God and is manifested or borne in our lives as we learn to yield to God in every situation. (To do what Jesus did, always!) We have patience, we just need to operate in it.

Allow patience to have her perfect work (complete and entire work) so that we obtain all that God has promised us!

Don’t give up! Keep standing IN PATIENCE! Believe God’s Word and do not move off of His promises, ever.

Hold On

Therefore do not cast away your confidence, which has great reward. For you have need of endurance, so that after you have done the will of God, you may receive the promise: – Hebrews 10:35-36 NKJV

If the word of God says “don’t cast away your confidence” then it is for sure that people can and do throw away their confidence. Its not that they lose it by neglect, but rather throw it away knowingly or “throw in the towel” so to speak. They give up. Give up on faith, on God’s Word and His promises and ultimately on God Himself. How?

One main reason is because they have failed to see God’s promise to them fulfilled within the time frame that they themselves have deemed “appropriate”. How long is long enough? UNTIL… Think about the promise from Jesus to the 500 that saw Him just before His ascension. He said go to Jerusalem and wait until you be endued with power from on high. 120 people went and waited for 10 days. He did not tell them it would be 10 days, He said wait. They waited PATIENTLY with an active faith that received the promise of God on the day that the Holy Spirit was sent! Expecting, they were filled!

Preparation time

Preparation time is never wasted time.

Luke 14:28  For which of you, intending to build a tower, does not sit down first and count the cost, whether he has enough to finish it

Counting the cost, planning and preparing are necessary to doing the job right.

The pressure to produce will try to outweight preparation every time.

While in Bible School we saw many first students that would get so excited that they didn’t come back the next year or graduate because they were convinced that they had to “get busy” for God. Sad to say but there a lot of those that have ended up out of the ministry and not serving God today.

Look at Joesph, Moses, David, Paul and many others in the Bible to see that there is always a preparation time.

God was not in a hurry during creation but created everything in the right day and was not pressured into creating everything all in the same moment. Patience during preparation goes a long way.

Prepare well because God has great things for you just ahead!
