Check Up from the Neck Up

Do you have stink’n think’n?

And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise. – Philippians 4:8

This is the “mind filter” that we must apply on a minute by minute basis. Any thought that does not agree with Philippians 4:8 we should not allow in our mind.

We must realize that we have authority over every thought in the Name of Jesus!

(For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; – 2 Corinthians 10:4-5 KJV

We have been given the responsibility to arrest every thought and apply the filter of Phillipians 4:8. If it passes the test think on it, if it doesn’t then cast it down (verbally with the Name of Jesus) and then replace it with the Word of God! Judge your thoughts because what you are thinking on, you become. As a man thinks in his heart, so is he. (or he will become)

Put the Word in your mind and heart by meditating on the Word day and night! Thinking it, speaking it, talking about the Word with those around you! Make His Word fill your mind and the wrong thoughts will flee FOR SURE!

Seeking First?

What do you long for and desire more than anything?

But seek (aim at and strive after) first of all His kingdom and His righteousness (His way of doing and being right), and then all these things taken together will be given you besides. – Matt. 6:33 AMP

There will always be the temptation to worry and fret about “things”…what to wear and what to eat…how are we going to pay all the bills…etc. BUT we are instructed by Jesus to do something that will cause that worry, fear and dread to go away.

Seeking first the Kingdom of God is not just something that sounds good to quote. It is something that we must do on a daily basis if we are to live above the “cares of this world”. By seeking first the Kingdom of God we are lifted up so that we begin to see things from God’s perspective (on a higher level). Putting the Word of God and prayer in it’s rightful place puts everything else in it’s rightful place.

Our number one priority must become our spiritual growth and health! We must give attention to God through prayer and the study of His Word if we desire to walk in His peace (Phil. 4:6) and have good success (Joshua 1:8). There is no substitute and no excuse…we must.

Seek first His Kingdom on a daily basis by studying and meditating on a chapter a day then pray…ask the Lord to show you His will for your life…then get ready for all those things that you need to be given to you!

It’s His Word and it works, prove it!

House of Prayer

Is your house a house of prayer?

And said unto them, It is written, My house shall be called the house of prayer; but ye have made it a den of thieves. – Matthew 21:13

The words of Jesus are still ringing out loud and clear, “My house shall be called the house of prayer.” He was addressing the “religious” people of the day that had turned the courtyard of the temple into something that it was not created to be. Jesus was correcting the situation at hand but at the same time still teaching us (down the halls of time) by the statement that He made. His intent is that our homes be a house of prayer…and always stay a house of prayer.

Our homes are to be filled with prayer, praise, worship and thanksgiving! (Peace, love, joy and the rest of the fruit of the spirit as well) As long as we fill our homes with prayer the presence of the Lord will be prevalent. If we give (devote) ourselves to prayer we become people of prayer and the peace of God will fill up even the place where we reside.

As others enter our home, what is it that they sense? Peace or contention? joy or hatred? You charge the atmosphere around you with the force that is most prevalent in you. That is why you can walk into a room where harsh words have just been spoken and sense the strife, contention and hatred.

It is up to us to make our homes a “house of prayer”. We have the responsibility to invite the presence of the Lord in our homes and as we continue to pray regularly, His presence, His peace remain and begin to rule our homes. Call your house a house of prayer then begin to pray without ceasing in your house! Oh, what a difference.

Worry or Thanksgiving

Worry has never produced anything.

Don’t worry about anything, but pray about everything. With thankful hearts offer up your prayers and requests to God. – Philippians 4:6 CEV

Just by “living life” there are plenty of opportunities to worry. But each time that we are tempted to worry we need to remember that we also have the opportunity to pray in faith.

Jesus said that worrying never produces anything. (see Matthew 6) Here in this verse in Philippians we are instructed to do something instead of worrying. PRAY in faith about whatever you are tempted to worry about.

When you pray in faith about something you are actually casting that “care” or concern over to the Lord. Also, this verse says that we should pray with thanksgiving. To thank God about what you are praying about signifies that you are believing that He is doing something about what you are praying about. That is faith. Believing that God is involved with your situation the very minute that you ask or make the request. Thanksgiving is powerful and filled with faith!

Let’s make a deal not to worry today. We pass up every opportunity to worry and instead we take every care and concern to the Lord with thanksgiving. We believe that He is doing things that we can not do. He is involved and we need not worry! Thank God!

Keeping My Mind Stayed

Wandering mind?…no peace?

You will guard him and keep him in perfect and constant peace whose mind [both its inclination and its character] is stayed on You, because he commits himself to You, leans on You, and hopes confidently in You. – Isaiah 26:3 AMP

We are promised peace when our mind is “stayed” on the Lord. We don’t use the word “stayed” normally in our modern language. It means: to set, to fix, take hold of, establish, rest self.

How do we set, fix, take hold of, establish and rest our mind on the Lord? With His Word of course! Meditating on the Word of God night and day will cause our minds to be focused and stayed on Him. His Word is an anchor to our soul and causes our lives to be filled with His peace! The more Word, …naturally the more peace.

Fill yourself with God’s word and experience the overflowing of His peace today! He has provided the way for us to walk in His peace.
