Crash or Stand

Posted by Pastor Bruce on January 13, 2010

Weak enough to crumble or strong enough to stand…it’s our choice!

Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock. And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it. – Matthew 7:24-27 KJV

It does not depend on God whether our house stands or falls in the storm…It depends on us. He wants our house (life) to stand always. He created us to stand but we have to choose to do one thing in order for His will to be done in our life. We have to choose to do the Word…the sayings of Jesus.

One great thing stands in the way of doing what Jesus said. Most people do not know what Jesus said. They have not studied to show themselves approved unto God… If you are not sure what Jesus did when He was on the earth how can you begin to ask WWJD – what would Jesus do? It all begins by finding out what Jesus did while He was on the earth. You find out what Jesus did and what He said from the Word of God. Begin digging deep today.

Join us as we read a chapter a day from the New Testament and find out what Jesus said and did.

Needing Patience

Posted by Pastor Bruce on December 8, 2009

The world is becoming more impatient by the nano-second.

My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience. But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing. – James 1:2-4 (KJV)

Patience is a force that comes from God by His Spirit into our spirit (as we allow it) to hold us steady until we receive what He has promised us.

Our difficulty lies in the fact that we live in a world where everyone wants everything – yesterday (if not sooner!). How fast is fast? Not fast enough. We want faster and faster than that. People praying and believing God for their healing want a miracle, NOW! If it does not happen instantaneously then they think that the Word of God doesn’t work…

Impatience is a sign of spiritual immaturity. It is time for us to grow up and operate in patience. Patience is a part of the fruit of the Spirit that is listed in Galatians 5:22. It comes from God and is manifested or borne in our lives as we learn to yield to God in every situation. (To do what Jesus did, always!) We have patience, we just need to operate in it.

Allow patience to have her perfect work (complete and entire work) so that we obtain all that God has promised us!

Don’t give up! Keep standing IN PATIENCE! Believe God’s Word and do not move off of His promises, ever.

Built Solid

Posted by Pastor Bruce on December 4, 2009

Going through a storm?

“Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock. – Matthew 7:24-25 NKJV

Some storms you can avoid and others you can’t but it doesn’t matter when you have built your house on the rock! Preparation for the storm is key. What you do before the wind picks up and begins to blow. Before the rain starts to beat down and the flood waters rise. Your foundation is most important. It will be the determining factor in whether or not your house will be standing when the storm is over. (Isn’t it a comforting thought to know that the storm will not last forever?!)

The only way that we can be sure that we make it out of the storm on the other side (without losing everything that we have) is by being wise and building on the right foundation. BE A DOER of the Word of God! Find out what the Word says on a daily basis and do it! Quick to obey what Jesus said to do assures us of making it through every storm. You can do it, don’t look at the past, start today and build on the rock. Do the Word and don’t worry about the storm,…it came to pass!

Hold On

Posted by Pastor Bruce on August 5, 2009

Therefore do not cast away your confidence, which has great reward. For you have need of endurance, so that after you have done the will of God, you may receive the promise: – Hebrews 10:35-36 NKJV

If the word of God says “don’t cast away your confidence” then it is for sure that people can and do throw away their confidence. Its not that they lose it by neglect, but rather throw it away knowingly or “throw in the towel” so to speak. They give up. Give up on faith, on God’s Word and His promises and ultimately on God Himself. How?

One main reason is because they have failed to see God’s promise to them fulfilled within the time frame that they themselves have deemed “appropriate”. How long is long enough? UNTIL… Think about the promise from Jesus to the 500 that saw Him just before His ascension. He said go to Jerusalem and wait until you be endued with power from on high. 120 people went and waited for 10 days. He did not tell them it would be 10 days, He said wait. They waited PATIENTLY with an active faith that received the promise of God on the day that the Holy Spirit was sent! Expecting, they were filled!

Faith That Gets Results

Posted by Pastor Bruce on June 28, 2009

And not being weak in faith, he did not consider his own body, already dead (since he was about a hundred years old), and the deadness of Sarah’s womb. He did not waver at the promise of God through unbelief, but was strengthened in faith, giving glory to God, and being fully convinced that what He had promised He was also able to perform.  – Romans 4:19-21 NKJV

Unbelief will keep you far from the promises of God. Doubt, fear and unbelief all run together on the road to nowhere.

In order to be strong in faith you must begin to give glory to God before you see the promise. Abraham could have considered his body but he chose to consider the faithfulness of God more than his body.

It is all in what you consider. Who is your faith in? What are you considering?

What is the biggest thing in your life? the problem, or the promise and the One who made the promise.

God is faithful to perform all that He has promised us in His Word. Let’s consider Him and be strong in faith giving glory to Him! It brings Him glory when we trust Him and consider Him faithful.

One sure thing

Posted by Pastor Bruce on October 5, 2008

Luke 21:33  Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away.

There is something a lot higher and a lot more sure than heaven and earth, the Word of God.

In tulmulteous times like these there is one thing that we need (and can) hang on to.

The Word was what God used to frame the world. (Hebrews 11:3) And because He used His Word to create the world that we see, He upholds all things by the power of His Word. (Hebrews 1:3)

His Word is the one sure that we can count on, trust in and rely upon.

Everything else is subject to change, but His Word is sure, stable, steadfast and unmovable. Hang on to His Word!
