What Are We Thinking?

How much time do you spend “becoming informed” by listening to and watching the news? And, do you think that it has any influence on your faith and trust in God?

So do not worry or be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will have worries and anxieties of its own. Sufficient for each day is its own trouble. – Matthew 6:34 AMP

There is a campaign that has been unleashed on the earth through the media. It is a worry and fear campaign designed to steal, kill and destroy. The enemy has been using the media to spread fear and worry for years. They have declared, “Bad news sales!”. So they turn up the volume (so to speak) on the bad news.

It is time that the Body of Christ realize that we are commanded to “seek first the Kingdom of God” in order to be constantly full of faith. The answer to worry and fear is always FAITH IN GOD! Our lives are in Him. He is our source of peace, joy, hope, comfort, strength and all that we need. We need to spend less time listening to the world and more time listening to the WORD. The reason that so many Christians are filled with worry and fear (just like those without God) is that their time and attention  have been on all that is going on in the world. Let’s take a check up on what we are thinking…and bring our minds back over to Romans 12:1 – renewing it with the Word! Renewed minds are guarded with the peace that passes all understanding.

Breaking Free From Babylon

Babylon says, “I can be successful without God.” Self-sufficiency is the way of the day in this world’s system. The Body of Christ has been conditioned to think this way to a large extent.

And they said, Go to, let us build us a city and a tower, whose top may reach unto heaven; and let us make us a name, lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth. And the LORD came down to see the city and the tower, which the children of men builded. – Genesis 11:4-5 KJV

The ones that built the Tower of Babel were in one accord alright but did not consider God at all. They were like so many of people today trying to make a name for themselves. And sad to say but this is how much of the Church world has become. Glorifying self instead of glorifying Jesus.

One indication that we have allowed ourselves to be in bondage to Babylon is that most Christian parents make the following statement to their children; “You can become whatever you want to be!” Sounds good on the outside. We all want our children to become all that they can become. BUT it is not true that they can become what THEY want to be. Each person is designed by the Master with a specific plan for their life! We are to encourage (and lead by example) our children to seek God for each step of their lives. We want to glorify Jesus in each decision that we make and break free from Babylon!

World Class Worriers

Some folks worry with every fiber of their being. “If I don’t worry, who else will?” is their thinking.

Therefore I tell you, stop being perpetually uneasy (anxious and worried) about your life, what you shall eat or what you shall drink; or about your body, what you shall put on. Is not life greater [in quality] than food, and the body [far above and more excellent] than clothing? – Matthew 6:25 AMP

The words of Jesus about worry were powerful! STOP WORRYING! This was not just a suggestion, this was a “order” from our Commander in Chief.

If you are in the Army, do you have an option to obey orders? NO. Failure to obey a general order or command in the military will result in punishment by courts-martial according to Section 892 article 92 of the Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ). There is no excuse to disobey orders, period.

For far too long we have approached worry as a “character flaw” to be proud of. It is not a “character flaw” and nothing to be proud of. It is sin! …and has to be dealt with as such. A Christian is to run from sin. Identify it and run the other way.

The answer for worry is to get so full of the Word of God that there is no room at all for worry. Trust God, fill your heart with the Word, watch your words, say what the Word says and worry will be a thing of the past!…at last!

Making His Ways Our Ways

Ever heard the phrase, “God is so mysterious.”? Most of the time this is used as a catch all phrase to indicate that it is impossible to understand God. But the Word is clear that God wants us to understand Him. He wants to shine the light where it is dark. To give us understanding so that we can walk in the light.

“For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways,” says the LORD. “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways, And My thoughts than your thoughts. – Isaiah 55:8-9 NKJV

This verse was not given to us in order to frustrate us but to identify that we are inadequate in and of ourselves. He wants to show us things to come. (John 16:13) He wants us to experience His leading and direction so that we can make the right decision, EVERY TIME! We do not have to take a “shot in the dark” when it comes to the issues of life (large or small). God has given us everything that we need to live a successful life every minute of every day and in every area! He delights to see us fulfill His plan. He is not trying to hide anything from us but He is endeavoring to reveal all things to us. Thank God for the Holy Spirit who is our guide into all the truth. When we take our thoughts to the Lord and say, “Lord, these are my thoughts…here you take them…and I in exchange take your thoughts…because they are higher…and always right…thank you that I have the ability to think like You by the power of the Holy Spirit!”. He is pleased with a prayer like that.

This is exchanging our inferior way of thinking for His superior way of thinking. Thank God that His thoughts are higher!

Change is not change until it is change

How do you know when you have changed?

Do not lie to one another, since you have put off the old man with his deeds, and have put on the new man who is renewed in knowledge according to the image of Him who created him – Col. 3:9-10 NKJV

OLD MAN vs. NEW MAN…you choose.

We have the responsibility to walk (live) according to the Word of God and act like Jesus. We can say that we are “trying”…but how hard are we trying?

To grow up into Jesus is to change the way that we act, think and speak. We have the power (and the responsibility) to change for ourselves. No one can make you change and no one can change for you. You decide when and if you are going to change.

Our disadvantage is that we live in a society of convenience where we do the least amount possible and expect the greatest result. We want all the shortcuts and we want them right now!

Real and lasting change is not based on convenience, it is based on the how much of the Word of God we are putting to practice in our lives. We must determine that we will do whatever the Word says for us to do as quickly as we see it in the Word! To change we have to change, period. How much have you changed lately?
