World Class Worriers

Some folks worry with every fiber of their being. “If I don’t worry, who else will?” is their thinking.

Therefore I tell you, stop being perpetually uneasy (anxious and worried) about your life, what you shall eat or what you shall drink; or about your body, what you shall put on. Is not life greater [in quality] than food, and the body [far above and more excellent] than clothing? – Matthew 6:25 AMP

The words of Jesus about worry were powerful! STOP WORRYING! This was not just a suggestion, this was a “order” from our Commander in Chief.

If you are in the Army, do you have an option to obey orders? NO. Failure to obey a general order or command in the military will result in punishment by courts-martial according to Section 892 article 92 of the Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ). There is no excuse to disobey orders, period.

For far too long we have approached worry as a “character flaw” to be proud of. It is not a “character flaw” and nothing to be proud of. It is sin! …and has to be dealt with as such. A Christian is to run from sin. Identify it and run the other way.

The answer for worry is to get so full of the Word of God that there is no room at all for worry. Trust God, fill your heart with the Word, watch your words, say what the Word says and worry will be a thing of the past!…at last!

Tomorrow’s Worries

Worry always contains the fear of the future.

So do not worry or be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will have worries and anxieties of its own. Sufficient for each day is its own trouble. – Matt. 6:34 AMP

Worry and fear are destructive buddies. They travel together and do damage to whoever will allow them to hang around. They love to lock up your mind with endless loops of failure and defeat. They are debilitating and will render you weak and powerless.

Jesus showed us how to deal with worry and fear as He walked this earth. He became a man that was filled with the Holy Spirit in order to show us how do live in the spirit and walk in the spirit. Living in the spirit and walking in the spirit do not just happen because we are “born again” and have accepted Jesus as our Savior. There is something more that we must do…and that is verse 33 of Matthew 6…SEEK FIRST HIS KINGDOM.

His Kingdom is filled with faith and strength that will overcome every fear and dispel all worry. His Kingdom is made up of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, strength, health, abundance…All that we need for all of our life!

No wonder Jesus said if we put first things first and seek His Kingdom first (by prayer and getting into His Word – Bible study)…then everything that we need will be provided for us as we need it…NO WORRIES! NO FEAR!

Trust Him by putting Him first and seeking Him first and before you do anything else…worry and fear will quickly flee!

Worry or Thanksgiving

Worry has never produced anything.

Don’t worry about anything, but pray about everything. With thankful hearts offer up your prayers and requests to God. – Philippians 4:6 CEV

Just by “living life” there are plenty of opportunities to worry. But each time that we are tempted to worry we need to remember that we also have the opportunity to pray in faith.

Jesus said that worrying never produces anything. (see Matthew 6) Here in this verse in Philippians we are instructed to do something instead of worrying. PRAY in faith about whatever you are tempted to worry about.

When you pray in faith about something you are actually casting that “care” or concern over to the Lord. Also, this verse says that we should pray with thanksgiving. To thank God about what you are praying about signifies that you are believing that He is doing something about what you are praying about. That is faith. Believing that God is involved with your situation the very minute that you ask or make the request. Thanksgiving is powerful and filled with faith!

Let’s make a deal not to worry today. We pass up every opportunity to worry and instead we take every care and concern to the Lord with thanksgiving. We believe that He is doing things that we can not do. He is involved and we need not worry! Thank God!
